So Microsofts got Bing which ya people are saying is a POS, however they have schmoozed Facebook and Twitter to dinner. They already have a partnership with Yahoo.

So correct me if I'm wrong but in terms of traffic rankings that would make Microsoft have deals with the #2 spot Facebook, #3 spot Yahoo, #5 spot Windows Live, #8 spot MSN, #10 spot Yahoo Japan, and #13 spot Twitter, plus Microsoft's own site #16 spot. Bing itself is only at #22.

Then in terms of Google it's got.......#1 spot for Google, #4 spot Youtube, Google India #12 spot, Google Germany #15 spot, Google UK #19 spot, Google China #17 spot, and Google France #20 spot respectively.

Overall, Google's a great company but the landscape might begin to shift. I don't know thoughts on these recent potential partnerships? Thoughts on the future of Google and Google's new supposed hot item Google Wave? Will Microsofts fat bank account allow them to buy the competition and put a nice fat dent in Google even though its still a household name?

I don't really see the benefit for a search engine to acquire twitter or facebook.
Unless they get search capabilities that the sites themselves don't offer.

I think as long as google keeps providing good results it will be hard for microsoft to get a bigger market share.
When google first started the search engine market was still spread out over a lot of different ones. Or atleast that's my experience whenever i asked someone about searching. Now it's turned into THE search engine and everyone uses it. From beginners to people who have been on the internet forever.

If microsoft wants a bigger slice of the cake they will have to take searching to the next level. Innovative things like pipl.com or picsearch.com for instance.
Until that happens i think they'll always be behind google since they have proven to be innovative.

Besides how much info can a 140 char message give you? Searching twitter for information is a bit like looking for headers linking to articles.
It might be easier that way to find very fresh articles but it will be hard to give a value to the actual content the tweet is linking to. So eventually it'll just clutter the results.

Oh well, maybe i'm wrong but i guess we'll have to wait and see how it works out for them. For now i'd put my money on google.
