i just got out of atlas shrugged. the movie kind of spiraled into a childish lecture at the end, but that's how the book went too.

i feel like making mad money right now...

but i also want to start my own collective.

post your insights itt

Mostly grab money while you can. Life in capitalist USA is a thinly veiled class struggle. Since China is essentially a capitalist economy there are fools blowing up while their workers struggle to buy food. Climb to the top and don't look down cuz it's ugly.

Grab what you can.

I meet with a group of AnCaps from around here on a regular basis. Most own businesses and a few of us are "artists."

My best friend and I are starting a specialty art supply store soon, and while we know we'll never be rich, we think we'll make enough to survive. The bonus is I'll have a way to get my art supplies on the free.

I'm focusing on becoming a better painter but always with Capitalism on my mind. Gotta do what you love.

Artists are the greatest capitalists of all. The good ones sell dreams.

I heard something interesting today. A guy who is now doctor said when he was in college and his parents were paying for everything he was a communist; when he was doing his residency and was making some money, but still subsidized, he was a socialist; and now that he is in private practice paying all the bills, he is now a capitalist. Things change when you are in business for yourself.

For some.

Most true socialists are wealthy nowadays.

Socialism is a form of control.

Old money likes to be in control.

True. This one girl in our group is an amazing composer (classical piano, mostly) and her stuff just draws up emotions.

Very cool. I was worried it hadn't arrived yet.

I wish I could feel more than two emotions.

It would probably help my writing.

Gave up drinking and eating meat last saturday. Already dropped 7 lbs.

It's gross.

I thought about quitting drinking but why would I sacrifice the absolute one joy I have?

I don't think of it as quitting it's more like putting it off.
