Gentlemen,
I want to start a DG talk about "Salve's Latest Obsession". Ü
THE SOCIAL GRAPH!
I am always trying to see what the next best thing will be.(Example: Computers, RFID, Nanotech, etc.) Well, I think we have finally seen it poke its head out. Social Network's are practically dead, however they do facilitate several basic social needs. So I am calling it a matured technology. (Like a jet engine, toilet, boats propeller) Some things through time just don’t improve that much.
So , I have been obsessed with the social graph lately. Myself and this fellow. (http://bradfitz.com/social-graph-problem/) Are trying to find what is currently wrong with our systematic social structure we have created:
Facebook(Social Utility): Pluggable apps.
Myspace(Social Networking): Add friends to a list and make conversation with any one of them.
Digg(Social Content): Rated, user generated content.
So after a lot of thought I have several ideas of what will be the next best social website. However, only one seems to stand out. And I’m calling it the Social Idea.
Social Idea:
Is an interface for people to gain access to any of the three Social abilities (Utility, Networking, and Content) and then clicking on a “platform button” which will change the current discussion. So anything related to that Platform will be what the users are doing. For example: You login to facebook, you click add friend, maybe add a new app, and then you would click on Platform (Much like Digg’s News, Videos, Podcasts) But the Platform can change based off of what type of topic is most important. So say it is election time. You would see Politics at the top of the screen you click it and it changes the way facebook functions. Now every conversation is going to be related to Politics and the most exciting content will be viewable from top to bottom.
So what do you guys think?
