Posted this a week or two ago before this sub forum was opened.

Almost finished working on a site targetted at gamers, mostly just Australian ones as its a fresh market. The site will act as a central location for LAN events and those that attend to collaborate, advertise their events etc. Thats the site, I'm going to have a forum where I expect the majority of site use to be.

What I'm looking at is ways to make money through this site. I've done some research into it and it seems that only adsense support forum advertising, though I am probably not right in saying that.

Any advice would be appreciated <3.

Forum advertising is a waste of time unless you're putting up VERY specific targetted ads or selling related products through a cheap, direct sale.

I've owned or done work for numerous sites that get 20,000,000-50,000,000 PV a month on the forums and were literally making $50-1,000.

I do know a few sites that have done very well, but it was through private ad sales that were willing to pay $20k/month for the impressions.

Not many people like to click ads in forums, but I don't think it's a total waste of time. I use adbrite with intersitials on one site, and adsense on the other. I make about $1.00 per 1,000 views with adbrite and about $1.50 per 1,000 views with adsense. You could even use popups.

Since your site is a gaming site, you may have luck with WidgetBucks showing xbox 360 game related ads. Widgetbucks also has a high pay per click up to 80 cents per click.
