I just bought one for dirt cheap off ebay for uhh.. something, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to reset the admin password. I was wondering if anyone has ever worked with one of these before. Please don't give me the links to the PDF's etc, i've been through all of them and no luck.

usually this is just a case of holding the reset or power button for a period of time
when it says hold for 30 seconds.. double it
most routers, linksys for example requires a solid 30+ seconds or it will not reset properly

Indeed! We will be using it for outbound filtering. I'm doing some preliminary testing today with our lan, and it is top notch!

We picked it up for 350 on ebay. From usu.edu.
The energize updates for this thing is freaking 4k a year, but it appears the 11 other check it does will be sufficient enough.

Hi,
I purchased the barracuda 300 on ebay as well...but cannot get into the interface with "admin" "admin". I tried the hacker posting but it does not work for me....so basically this unit is unusable for me. Does anyone else have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance!

The trick is, to hit ctrl + Break while its bootin, as soon as the screen goes blank, and you see it flick for a second and go blank again (all that happens in about 1 second)
Hit escape
and then type (even though the screen is still blank)
linux init=/bin/bash <enteR>
it took me about 15 tries but you can get it if you type fast enough, then follow the rest of the instructions on how to mount the drive, and just passwd root after that. Also there is another place to reset the admin password for the cuda interface you need to run this script.
/home/emailswitch/code/firmware/current/bin/password.pl
which will reset the admin password for the CP.
I just got back from our NOC and installed it infront of our mail cluster, it doing quit nicely w/o the energize updates! But updates would be nice, I think we might purchase them, seeing as it is only ~1k for the year and they literally update the cuda's DB every hour.
