if i drive my car around wouthout the egr valve hooked up will i fuck up my 98 camry. Getting it replaced asap anyway to save trees.

It may mess up your fuel/air mix computation. The computer will be forced to guess the proper mix and you could suffer some reduction of fuel mileage.

I'm not sure about long term.

Like said above you might have a little bit worse gas mileage...some people block the EGR anyway to stop the intake from receiving that carbon filled hot air.

Won't pass your smog inspection either I don't think.

it won't mess up the car permanently, you'll experience some rough idle at times and the car won't run at it's best, and you'll fail NOX if you have to pass emissions

but no, it won't permanently damage the car
