it does, also... ubuntu is for noobs? its a stable OS with a friendly iface, your a fucking noob for saying that, u can still tar and shit on here so hows it any different besides HAVING the ability to install from package if you so choose, i also run freebsd and i like ubuntu better because sometimes i prefer to not have to compile from source to get a notepad installed.
