Since marble is so porous, it is also easily stained. One single scratch can allow liquids or even oxidation from the air to leak under the seal coating and stain the marble.

certain colors of marble such as white rarely get stained and some dark marble do not get stained. I will post pics when i get home i currently have dark tops. IMO white marble tops are the best i have had those in the past as well.

I never liked granite it looks like concrete with dirt specs in it. No natural beauty like marble. to each his own :)

Whenever I feel the need to remodel that much of a house I just go and find a newer house that has all the amenities I wish for and buy it. I could not handle having my shit ripped up for weeks at a time.

I grew up in a kitchen with wooden countertops and no finish on top with a stove made of a series of iron pots with coals underneath for heat and that was JUST FINE

frankly Ii hate the kitchen I evolved into because all forms of heating are less controlable and even than coals and iron

I'm thinking of reworking my whole shit to incorporate the wisdom of my ancestors I don't even give a fuck
