    Default Overclockers get ITT

    I built a computer with a ASUS M4A785-M AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard with a AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ940XCJ4DGI - OEM and OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2RPR10664GK for the ram.

I just upgraded my drivers and got TurboV, but the program looks horrible and I don't trust it..

How would you guys suggest getting the most out of this system?

One thing that people don't pay much attention to is the hard drive specs... It has a huge part in overall speed in the system.

Windows 7 has built in optimization for Solid State Drives(SSD) which works pretty good.

These SSD's are no joke, If you have the money I'd advise to get one.

Makes your entire system very snappy, everything snaps open immediately, no wait time at all.

I upgraded from a velociraptor 150gb 10k rpm drive to a Intel 80GB X25 and its a huge difference, way more snappy.

I totally agree.. I have a dell mini9 with a very small SSD in it. I run a modified version of ubuntu [depending on my mood, crunchbang or jollycloud]. And with some changes that are out there on the internet, it flys.. It's a great little netbook. Most netbooks have 160gig HDs but they arn't SSDs.. this one is a great improvement and I can def. see the speed increase with a SSD

if you're gonna ramp up the processor, change from the stock heatsink before you do anything.

you're gonna be doing a lot of BIOS tinkering, mostly volts and FSB. read up on that shit. turn off anything that's like "speedstep" or "c1e", i'm not sure what the AMD version of that would be.

make sure the RAM timing is within the right spec/timing, some mobo's downclock it for no reason

also, what kind of video card? just curious

7 also has that powerboost for memory if get a 8gb+ flash

you can probably +200mhz in your bios but amd mostly sucks for overclocking

Yes, that almost always happens... make sure the timings are correct, although if you do overclock you may run into the memory running at a higher mhz then what it's rated for if that's the case you will have to loosen up the timings.

The quality/power of your PSU also effects the overclock that you can achieve... I can tell you exactly what to adjust everything to, but it might not work.... it's trial and error expect to be going in and out of the bios adjusting shit like 10 times before you get it stable.
