I did my mother's side and my father's (adopted) side. Very interesting. Kind of makes me think of what it was like back then. Was it harder or easier than now. Maybe just different.

The public library here has a genealogy room that's fun. Always interesting people there talking about how much better it is than a pay web service, but I haven't tried one.

Edgar Allan Poe is my ggg uncle. My ggggg grandfather was Robert Looney. All fought in every war since the revolutionary war. Well, with the exception of my generation, since both males carrying my father's name are the last in line.

I'm somehow also related to Churchill, James Dean and General Sherman's (supposed) personal assistant during the March to Atlanta (Littleton Beard Dean) but I think there's some embellishment in the family histories.

I double checked with census records. Also kind of makes sense since my grandfather's middle name is Poe, taken from his mother's side. The g grandparents also had lots of historical stuff related to Poe.

My father's side all came from Bern, Switzerland and settled in PA and OH which I knew... Lots of fam on his side down in Amish/Mennonite country.

I think if no hint leaves appear that means no one has built a tree regarding that person yet. It is strange that no leaves are coming up, they usually pop up when there is a hit on a census record, marriage record or such.

It's just crazy to think of how we got here. I cannot imagine getting on a boat/ship in the 1700s and going somewhere that hasn't been settled yet. And then pumping out about ten kids.

I highly doubt i'd make it anywhere near 90+ she is still sane and lives on her own now which is pretty crazy imo. and healthy too :/
