    Default Investment Ideas

obviously everyone is looking for low risk / high reward investments, but seeing as they dont really exist i'm looking for additional ideas to add to my portfolio.

initial investment = up to $15k
desired minimal return on investment = $20k (30%)
requirements = not involve the internet or dennis

i've already created and maintain a bug spray company, an emergency weather assistance for the elderly, and a local IT charity for students of local community colleges (tax write off!)

    thanks for any ideas.

Just an idea. Buy some used plotter printers and do some offline advertising. Keep an eye out on CL for someones used setup with materials/ink/etc and do some guerilla marketing with high paying CPA offers. Since you have money to invest you could hire people and scale the operation up fat.

at first i was going to come in here and shoot my mouth off about how the only way you can expect a 30% return without vegas levels of risk is to sell drugs or run a ponzi scheme but then i thought how i'm not the one who has 15k to invest. you managed to raise that kind of seed money so instead i'm going to hang back and see what suggestions are made here that you like and then look into them myself.

Girl, I ain't saying some of them ain't spambots, but Twitter has to use scientific notation to say how many followers I got.

you are on the right track... 30% is an agressive goal

what sucks is that people with real liquid has it so easy. Just the other day I got a call about a $1.5 mil, 4month, 5-10% fixed loan from a Venture Capitol firm in nyc. Pretty fucking easy way to make some legit money fast.

wtf idk anything about this (assuming MMJ = medical marijuana) but shouldnt it be more profitable now than 3 years ago since almost everyone smokes them now?

If you have the cash to put down, buying and selling IT gear can be very profitable, especially if you have some college kids who can clean and refurbish for you.

Government auctions are a great place to grab multiple pallets of laser printers, desktops, laptops, and network kit... at a very cheap price. From there, you can flog them on eBay, Craigslist, and even local retail shops.

You can get over 100% return depending on the amount you are able to purchase/price. Just remember it's an auction, you have to know when to stop bidding. You'll also need to have some place to store and work on multiple pallets.

I'd imagine that the only way to really profit from a new venture would be in an emerging market... if Florida legalized it for example. I wouldn't set up in Cali, way too much competition.

because everyone and their mother grows. I was in the game 3 years ago when it was really profitable and you could get rid of og in cali for 4300+ no problem. Now a dispensary will pay $3k max for flawless OG. Prices plummeted.

exactly. emerging markets are legit but u gotta move fast. Look at Colorado for example. That shit went down like one year ago and the market is already flooded.

While this is true I wouldn't say it's unprofitable. You can always pick up used setups on CL for dirt cheap. ex: 2x1000w, 2x600w, full House & Garden nute lineup with ebb & flow tables, timers, etc on CL right now for $1100. If you put them all in a bloom room, assuming .5g/w the first cycle, that's 3.5 lbs right there. Even if you were to off it for $2400/lb you've way more than made your money back.

lack of actual ideas in this thread. looking into the IT auctions though, that's up my alley. stupidest thing i've looked into was that shit i saw on TV, the "storage auctions". LMFAO there's nothing but emptied apartments in those storage units.

since this thread is here already... someone i know wants to invest 10k and would be happy to even get 2-3k return (the more the better, of course) in ... lets say ... 6 months. What are some things they can do?

Yeah Yeah fuck my join date. Unlike alot of these trolls I actually make good money. You think its hard to turn 15 into 20? If so then give up and go stuff your money in a savings account.

I know when I go on a random forum that is full of scam artists and am looking to invest money, the first thing I do is look at their join date. If they joined less than a year ago it must mean they aren't trustworthy. You should just give all the money to Dennis, he's been here a long time and thus there is no risk.

Also, I only take money from people with more than 3 rep bars, so you'll have to understand my ignoring of your request.

On a very serious note though...Just realized that the main city I live near has a population of over 100K people and doesn't have a single electronic cigarette store front. You want to make some serious money with little overhead....there you go. I'm looking at office space right now...time to step up my game.

nobody uses it? The e-cigarette craze is still going strong. I watched 3 stores pop up in wilmington and all of them are doing very well. Even if you get a few hundred repeat customers you are making a decent profit from it since the mark up is pretty high.

wasn't thinking its hard to turn $15k into $20k, was looking for more ideas on how to diversify without needing my constant involvement.

I am actually looking into opening a new franchise for a background screening company. Franchise fees are looking at about $10-12k. I'm having my lawyer look over the paperwork and will post updates on its success in case anyone is interested.

As I was typing this, just thought about possibly even having an affiliate extension for DGers to make a buck. Anyways, best of luck on that e-cigg idea, someone pitched that idea at me and I don't think its such a good idea. From personal experience, smokers don't enjoy the e-cigg as much as they enjoy the traditional cigg. Have you ever tried one? It does something funny with your throat.... can't explain it more than a "tickle" or discomfort in your throat after every drag. inb4 "throat" jokes.

Actually I smoke an E-cig now with great success and enjoy them quite a bit. Also knew alot of people back home that smoked them. It's catching on more then people think i guess.

They're catching on but idk if a storefront would really be worth it. Anyone who isn't a jackass knows you can buy them online for much better deals than what a store w/ rent and labor and all that extra overhead could afford to charge.

On a side note I was exclusively smoking an e-cig for a while myself and had no issues with my throat feeling funny from it so IDK about all that. However when I was looking around to buy one I checked out some local tobacco shops that carry them and the price/quality I was able to get online demolished anything they had to offer.

The upside of a storefront is not having to wait for shit to get to your house. If a battery goes bad you have to wait a few days to get it....meaning its either suffer without or go buy a real pack of cigs making the e-cig pointless. Also a lot of people that still don't like ordering off of the internet.

It's tempting man. If i didn't spend 15 grand over the past 3 weeks i'd be hunting down a store front right now. The start up costs would be super low...advertising would be the only real challenge.

yah the cheap 20 dollar gimmicks. they dont work for shit and the battery life is horrible. I charge my cig over night and it lasts me all day along with one fill on the cartridge.

if you dont mind fucking people over face to face. Title loans and payday loans is a huge biz. I think the state max is like 300% interest rate.

I actually never thought about a redbox franchise.... thought that would be a corporate kinda thing like blockbuster express. (looking into it)

payday loans was something a mutual friend of a friend talked to me about, since he owned a store front and wanted my capital. apparently there was state legislature recently that reduced the maximum rate to something like 15% in most states and maxed the amount you can loan out as well to something ridiculously low like $1000.
