Reddit handled this newsstory pretty well as they have users who actually live in Egypt and can give a nice cool-headed domestic point of view on it. the president's powers at this time are severely restricted by the military, which is much more religiously neutral and more opportunistic than anything. There is also quite a sizable liberal moderate population in Egypt that I think would hold back any sort of radicalism.
