    Default RIP/OSPF

With OSPF, is there a case method for handling down links other than routing to the next shortest path? I'm concerned about notification methods involving network monitoring. I'm all about redundancy, but, without being notified that routes have changed due to a link being down, I find it quite useless.

Anyone running RIP/OSPF that knows a little about this subject AIM me.

Well you can monitor OSPF out the ass with SNMP and whatnot... you would know routes were down regardless of whether they were being routed around or not, even if you're doing ip unnumbered or some other such crazy shit

holler if you'd like more infos... this type of shit is what I do at work all the time
