Thread: new questions re: nukes accidentally flown over states

Default new questions re: nukes accidentally flown over states

    http://www.star-telegram.com/245/story/259201.html

    ...is worth reading.

If you bought off on the whole "whoops, nukes!" stuff when that story first came out, it's worth taking the time to reapproach the facts by themselves. I'm not a fan of conspiracy theories in any form -- an unbiased open mind is one thing, but I need facts to come together pretty quickly in order to stay interested. The author -- a retired air force officer -- did a fine job of avoiding much beyond fact, and his questions strike me as legitimate and worth answering.

Accidents happen, and so do accidents that can only occur if 10 other independent accidents happen at the same time. Just not very often.

I'm fond of an old saying:

    Once is happenstance.
    Twice is coincidence.
    Three times is enemy action.

Ten times, figuratively, is ah... certainly curious. ;p

i dont get the purpose of the article. it sounds like a summary of what occured, a little bit of his opinion how its kinda fishy and then a list of questions that the pending investigation should answer

    whats his point

i think it was an internal "investigation" thing kinda like what red cell used to do, someone found out, was pissed, and leaked it

Any nuclear warhead can fly over your head and it will not be dangerous unless the tigger mechanism malfunctions and starts the chain reaction for detention. As most toro 1 and 2 missile along with patriot are installed in many base with safety. Unless you can get your hands on one which I seriously doubt Bin Ladins cuisine alone reprogram it which you have no skill to even access the chip and rewrite it. LOL and no hitting it with a hammer won't make it explode maybe you can start a thermite reaction best hope as it will eat its way though it and in no time will cause an explosion.

Now remember what Einstein said it takes more energy to release the energy harnessed from single atom. Unless you can do simple chain daughter cell reaction following E=MC^2.

As many of you uneducated cock sucker have no idea what E=MC^2 is other then the fact that you have heard someone of my superior intelect spoke of it. Now E=MC^2 means Energy = mass times the speed of light times itself.

Patriot missle can carry warheads as anything mobile can but they are mostly used for anti-aircraft/missle. This is why they have toro1/toro2 missles which is known as intercontinental and can be launched from any where even if launched from USA it can hit any country within 40min around the world.

That's true, probably happens regularly and isn't a big deal, since there's literally almost no chance of any mechanical failure that could put it into an armed state, but... I think the other aspects of the event are curious -- i.e. so many people who should have been able to explain in a little more detail how this might have happened instead being completely baffled about their transport to begin with. And that's one HELL of a run-on sentence.

*shrug* I still stand by my initial comments in that regard.

syn, without knowing for sure, I'd say his point is essentially two-fold:

First, if it was indeed all accidental, we need to identify absolutely everything that led to this, not only to ensure that no more accidents happen, but also to ensure that any logistical vulnerabilities can't be exploited by people with the means and motivation to do so.

Second, I'd suspect that the author is a calculating leftist. Particularly with his latter questions, you can *almost* see the conspiracy he's hinting at between the lines. But he seemed sharp enough to avoid anything like that directly.

lol that is not alarming man you should hear what happened to US defense base in UK during the Cold War. As 8 missile was ready to launch and the controller could not launch them at once same times yet this has happened. While US Military said that was NOT a threat to its security and closed that case and made it classified from public disclosure. Which I found funny at the peak of Cold War against Soviet something like that happens in friendly soil in UK without the help of outside influence top of that when it was designed not to launch simultaneously.

Its declassified now now you cock sucker and you can dig this up from the archive. Its clear you are not from USA rofl or you were any ways affiliated with US military or know its basic protocols. But here is a fact as I was in CA in 2005 I had temporary level 1 clearance for acron database just two years ago as I have helped setup servers to periodically backing up the naval personal informations on active men/women in duty.

you see my friend, we have a saying here, and many other places over teh internots... it's called "Pics or Shens", with "Shens" being short for shenanigans, or in other words calling bullshit. It's much easier to say than "Pics or it didn't happen". Get it right, or gtfo

think about what i suggested, do some research on red cell and their DOE counterparts. to me everything about this points to an internal test of security measures that was leaked. id like to know your opinions regarding this scenario..

Well, boys, I reckon this is it - nuclear combat toe to toe with the Roosskies. Now look, boys, I ain't much of a hand at makin' speeches, but I got a pretty fair idea that something doggone important is goin' on back there. And I got a fair idea the kinda personal emotions that some of you fellas may be thinkin'. Heck, I reckon you wouldn't even be human bein's if you didn't have some pretty strong personal feelin's about nuclear combat. I want you to remember one thing, the folks back home is a-countin' on you and by golly, we ain't about to let 'em down. I tell you something else, if this thing turns out to be half as important as I figure it just might be, I'd say that you're all in line for some important promotions and personal citations when this thing's over with. That goes for ever' last one of you regardless of your race, color or your creed. Now let's get this thing on the hump - we got some flyin' to do.

I'd rather nuke Traverse City than lose all of the Midwest to Communism...

It's definitely possible.. and I don't know one way or the other. But I'm pretty familiar with how the red team stuff goes down (coincidentally, met some of the DOE red team guys as well, once upon a time), and this just isn't it. They'd have to get approval from God Himself, and from God on down, the first priority is always CYA. I suppose risks to personnel, property, or national security are in there somewhere too.

If they weren't real, they would have said so. I bet an entire team somewhere shit themselves for a full week trying to find a way to say that they were dummies of some kind. Their failure to do so tells me that they were probably the real deal. Beyond that... we'll just have to see where the dust settles.

I found this to be quite a wacky, zany and action-packed opinion on the matter:

First off, you need to be 21 years old to recieve any type of clearence that will get you farther then the receptionist's desk. Secondly, I had the highest level clearence given at the time I served in the military and it took the FBI and NSA 4 years to complete my background checks. They take hair, skin and blood samples. They talked to everyone who ever came into contact with me. They had info on me that I didn't even know. All you seem to know is what you've seen on your PS3 and the internet. Both real good sources of factual info!! Nothing irritates me more than some dumbshit talking out of his ass about things he knows NOTHING about. Shut up and pay attention and you may actually learn something more than what you read on the porn site last night.

i got a really high security clearance while i was working at a govt pharmaceutical company. they did a crazy background check on me that took 6 months or so, questioned me about things i had said in the past that i didn't remember saying. i felt pretty BA about it. however i had no privacy really, in any aspect of my life, during the time i worked there and a good while afterwards.

I spent like 5 days, 12 hours a day answering questions. Stupid one's too. Some of them were like "Why did to punch so and so in the 1st grade." Huh?! They were asking me questions about people I didn't even know or hadn't seen since I was 5 years old. They said it was routine but it felt like I was being interrogated. The best part was when they would ask the same question over and over and over, just word it defferently to see if I would give a different answer. But it was cool when I finally got it though. I could do pretty much anything, no questions asked.

yeah they found some stuff i wrote on a website in like 1997 and had it printed out, asking me if i still felt that way etc. it was crasi. at first working there sucked, i was followed by a guy in a suit all day, even to go to the bathroom. he came in and stood right outside of the stall. i was kept in one room that had no windows and basically nothing but a table and some chairs with really bad lighting. after i passed everything (with a LOT of help from family friends high up in the govt that gave me recommendations - which is why i think it only took 6 months) the job was sweeet. i got to take part in some pretty amazing stuff.

That's called an OPM / DSS backlog. If you think you were being looked at for 4 solid years, you're crazy.

Gross hyperbole, but something at least approaching what looks to be as though it may be distantly related to a cousin of truth.

Nothing irritates me more than some dumbshit talking out of his ass about things he knows NOTHING about.
    Absolutely.

I was in during the end of the cold war, 1980's. They took hair folicle samples and tested them for narcotics and I also had to have a spinal tap for testing purposes.

Obviously they can't find everyone I've ever met but I had to give them a list of everyone I could remember and they interviewed them and if those people knew of someone not on my list, they interviewed them, and so on. I know for a fact this is true because I went to school with the lead investigating FBI agents daughter. She was a close friend of a close friend. Plus, I had people who were pissed at me for having the FBI call them or show up at there door. Today they don't do that nearly as much in the information age. Back then, they actually had to interview people to get info.

Now, it's not all that difficult to obtain a TS clearance, depending on what the person will be doing and the length of time the clearance is good for.

I really don't understand what the fuss was about with my clearance anyways. Most of the TS stuff I had seen was during DS and I really couldn't figure why it was classified anyway.

Good thing I guess is that if I get recalled, they said it shouldn't take but a week or so for my clearance to be renewed.

The best part was when they would ask the same question over and over and over, just word it defferently to see if I would give a different answer. But it was cool when I finally got it though. I could do pretty much anything, no questions asked.

Yeah they gave "the highest clearance you could have" to someone who can't even fucking spell. Good job bud.
