    Default Pictures of Boats

I am trying not to post pictures of boats, some other DG's don't seem to like them.

I like boats. Very fond of Lakers and have a special place in my heart for Salties.

(Salties are freighters from other countries that sail the Great Lakes.)

I like Freighters too, I used to work on the docks. They kinda inspired me to post random pictures.

My favourite freighter on the Lakes was the Oglbay-Norton Wolverine. I was about 7 the first time I saw her on Lake St. Clair, on my dad's friend's boat and we ran along side her on the Detroit River. She got sold for scrap last year but I still have a framed picture on my wall.

    lol wtf? who hates boats?
"Americans like to believe in American exceptionalism, that the United States is a force for good around the world, not just another country pursuing its interests via geopolitical horse-trading. This is part of why there is such a visceral public backlash against WikiLeaks -- because it lays bare U.S. diplomacy in all its blunt, unromantic reality."

With out boats your cloths and electrical s would not arrive from China! Plus standing next to a big freighter really makes you realize how small and insignificant you really are.

My clothes are from Sri Lanka. And when I see something like a freighter glide across the sea, I think, "Damn, mankind is a wonderful thing!" The brains, brawn and will that it took to create something as amazing as steel floating on water just proves the Earth is ours to exploit.

I didn't say "suck dry" I said exploit. As in, use its resources in a wise, productive and if possible, renewable fashion.

CERN is going to open our ability to understand the universe. It's not going to wipe us out.

Now SKYNET is a whole other story...

CERN can wipe us out. When the project produces no additional data or goals are not archived they will just beef it up. Next thing you know black hole. someone always takes it too far. There are many more scientific projects going on all over the world that have the potential for devastating consequences. Like i said it's a matter of when not if!

A group of scientists at the Manhattan Project believed that the detonation of Trinity was going to ignite the sky, causing a chain reaction that would burn off the atmosphere. They were so adamant that they petitioned the White House to not allow the bomb test.

We're still here. Albeit a little more radioactive than out forbears, but still here.

CERN is just the next "Sky is Burning!" paranoia of people against progress.

Meh when it happens it should be quick and no one will know until it's too late anyways. Weather it is CERN or one of the many other secret scientific programs going on all over the world. It's human nature to push the boundaries to gain knowledge.

The only secret project I worry about is the Gay Bomb.

There's been 7(?) mass extinctions in the 14 billion year history of Earth, timing wise, we're overdue by about 200,000 years for one. While we may just now becoming into our mastery of this planet, the microscopic time we've been here leads me to think a cosmic or geologically-borne disaster is what will do us in.

Fear not Mankind smashing two little electrons together, fear Fate tossing a big fucking rock at us from Andromeda Centari.

But I Rrrrrrrrrr not a pirate matey, I Rrrrrrrrr Bob Dole.

(Although I have thought about being a Pirate on the Great Lakes and robbing Canadian vessels. I could take out the Canadian Coastal Defences like nothing.)
