What do you already have.
If you are just rapping, then you need a tube preamp and condenser mic, rackmount compressor and at the very least pro tools and an mbox.
If you are making beats you need to have at the very least, a PC or mac, midi keyboard, midi controller, trigger finger or something comparable. Plus the stuff for a rapper if you ever wanna record yourself or real instruments or other rappers.
You could also go the hardware route and get an MPC, Korg triton or motif and the stuff for a rapper along with a mac or pc.
